Can a cello, a French horn and an electric guitar make chamber music together? Can it work and can their music move us? SF A'dam Trio proves that it can and it does! These three musicians from two continents - who studied together at The Manhattan School of Music - join forces in a new and totally unique ensemble. The music ranges from mainstream classical to music of the Americas and brand new works that explore the sonic possibilities of this instrumentation.

Tjakina Oosting
Is a Dutch cellist and teaching artist living in Amsterdam. Ms Oosting studied at the Utrecht Conservatory and at the Manhattan School of Music in NY. In addition, she has played for several Dutch orchestras including Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra and Holland Symfonia. As a soloist, she has performed in the Saint Saents Cello Concerto no 1 and Stabat Mater of Nystedt for choir and cello. Ms Oosting co-founded MUZIEK AAN BED (BedsideMusic), which creates concerts and performs for pediatric hospitals throughout the Netherlands. In addition, Ms Oosting is head of the education program for Cello BiŽnnale Amsterdam, that develops and produces projects for school children and cello students in the Netherlands.

armandoArmando Castellano
Is a French horn player originally from the Bay Area. Armando graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles studying' with Bob Watt and Richard Todd, before moving on to receive a master degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City where he studied with Erik Ralske and Jerome Ashby. He attended the Aspen music festival in addition to several tours with the Russian American Youth Orchestra. He has performed in most of the Bay Area’s regional orchestras and has spent much of the last ten years
organizing and performing chamber music by Latino composers and collaborating with
organizations to highlight Latino classical and contemporary music.


WiekWiek Hijmans
Is an accomplished solo chamber performer in Europe, Russia, Indonesia and the United States who has played with ensembles
including the L.A. Chamber Orchestra,
Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, and the Nieuw Ensemble and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. As an acknowledged pioneer of the electric guitar, renowned composers Christian Wolff and Theo Loevendie have composed solo works for him. At the request of American composer Steven Mackey, Mr Hijmans formed CATCH, an electric guitar quartet that made its debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in 2014.
